The still new and rapidly growing youth program at Hastings had a very successful summer in 2011. Hastings fielded two teams at the 5/6 level and one team at the 7/8 B level. Including the regular season and district playoffs, these three teams had a combined record of 23-9.
Coaches include dedicated parents, as well as current and former Hastings players, attributing to a great season! This is only the first year having any 5/6 teams, and only the fourth year with a 7/8 team. Two years ago, the 7/8 B team had a winless 0-9 season. Hastings Boys Lacrosse is making great strides thanks to a lot of hard work from players, parents and coaches. Here is a recap:
Had a record of 8-3 (including district playoffs) and made it to the 5/6 State Tournament. Coached by Nick Baum (Varsity Captain, Class of '12), Brady Wasvick ('07), and Mark Hokans.
Record of 5-6, falling one win short of making it to the State Tournament. Coached by Branson Nickel and Terry Iverson.
Record of 10-0, making it to the 7/8 B State Tournament (overall record of 11-1). Lost 4-3 in the Quarterfinals to eventual champion Delano. Coached by Brian Jenson ('03), Jordan Burr ('12), Ryan Gillard ('13), and Casey Gillard ('14).
Congratulations to everyone for a great summer and a big thanks to everyone who contributed!
